Two traffic training parks have been in the making for more than 10 years. Work is yet to start on them as government agencies refuse to release money allotted for them.

One of the park is to come up at Pragati Maidan, to be developed by the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).

Traffic training parks go a long way in inculcating good driving habits in drivers, including students who visit such parks as part of educational trips. There are already six such parks but more are needed to cater to Delhi's increasing population.

The traffic pavilion at Pragati Maidan, behind the now-shut Appu Ghar, has been functional for several years, but the foundation stone for a permanent structure as a traffic training park was laid in 2003.

Traffic officials said the first installment for the park was paid way back in 1989. Till 1998, more than Rs 90 lakh had been deposited with the ITPO.
