The modernization of New Delhi railway station is all set to begin from September 5. And passengers are expected to face difficulties. According to Northern Railway, around 52 trains have been cancelled between September 6 to 15 from New Delhi, Old Delhi, Nizamuddin and Shakurbasti stations.

According to senior officials, it has been done in order to allow long-distance trains to approach Old Delhi and other stations with minimum hiccups. Another 25 trains will also be diverted and 83 other trains will see short termination.

``Most local passengers board Ghaziabad bound trains from Tilak Bridge station rather than New Delhi. Hence, a number of trains will be terminated at Tilak Bridge. We will also terminate some trains at Shahdara, so that the passengers can avail Metro services. Similarly, passenger trains to Rohtak, Jind and Jakhal will originate and terminate at Shakurbasti. Trains to Haridwar, Saharanpur and Shamli will be terminating and originating at the Delhi Sarai Rohilla station'', said a Northern Railway senior official.
