A MUSEUM of Independence will soon come up at Jamia Millia Islamia. Called `The Independence Experience' the museum will aim to reach out to the youth and introduce youngsters to the Indian freedom movement.

"We will use the latest technology, and modern methods of communication to put across the diversity and variety of the Indian freedom movement. Films, music and architecture will become means of communication to the visitors coming to the museum," said Vice Chancellor Mushirul Hasan, while addressing a press conference today .

The first of its kind museum in the country will be supported by the Maison des Science de l'Homme in Paris.

"In order to build a museum of international standards we require trained people from various fields and need to borrow the expertise of countries like France, which has some of the best museums in the world," said Hasan.

The HRD has recommended that a grant of Rs 60 crore be released through the UGC to Jamia.

The proposed Museum shall be built from scratch over a five acre of land on the Jamia campus.

"The work has already begun and we hope to complete the museum in five years," said Hasan.ht
