Illegal Colonies To Get Provisional Certificates In SeptemberBy ugesh sarkar, Section News
The Delhi government has decided to issue provisional authorisation certificates to unauthorised colonies in September.
Residents of unauthorised colonies are considered vote bank of the Congress. They were not happy with Congress government in Delhi when several unauthorised constructions were demolished by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) last year. Now with the provisional authorization, the Congress is likely to win the heart of these voters, sources said. The RWAs affiliated to the BJP have announced a rally on August 31. They claim that provisional authorisation is just pulling the wool over people's eyes. The rally will be organised under the umbrella of Unauthorised Colonies Mahasangh that will be led by former union minister Vijay Goel. Goel claimed that there was no provision in the law to issue provisional authorisation certificate to the colonies. Click On "Full Story" For More...

About 1300 colonies will be issued the certificates before the election code of conduct. The election is to be held in November and the code of conduct is enforced two months before poll date.
The sources said that a total of 1461 unauthorised colonies were registered with the Delhi government. The RWAs of these colonies submitted all the documents required by the ministry of urban development, Delhi government, for provisional authorisation. Scrutiny showed 161 colonies have more than one RWA and they have submitted the required documents. Source: Tribune News Service 28/Aug/2008
