Residents of unauthorised colonies are considered vote bank of the Congress. They were not happy with Congress government in Delhi when several unauthorised constructions were demolished by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) last year. Now with the provisional authorization, the Congress is likely to win the heart of these voters, sources said.

The RWAs affiliated to the BJP have announced a rally on August 31. They claim that provisional authorisation is just pulling the wool over people's eyes. The rally will be organised under the umbrella of Unauthorised Colonies Mahasangh that will be led by former union minister Vijay Goel.

Goel claimed that there was no provision in the law to issue provisional authorisation certificate to the colonies.
