The Delhi government is all set to build a modern fruit and vegetable market in Ghazipur. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who laid the foundation stone of the second phase of the mandi to be developed in East Delhi on Friday, said all mandis in Delhi are being modernised to bring them at par with other well-managed markets of Asia.

The second phase will be spread across nine acres and 200 shops are being constructed for commission agents and wholesale dealers.

The mandi will have electronic auction displays, storage in basement shops and parking on the ground floor.

The government also plans to build a cyber café, an ATM and a restaurant on the premises. Dikshit had said the mandi will also have facilities for packaging and grading.
