There is total chaos around the busy Janakpuri District Centre. Small and medium sized vehicles jostle with each other even as the traffic policemen watch helplessly and try to restore whatever order they can.
The reason is the road that meets Janakpuri Marg from Najafgarh. Despite so much development in the area, the road has not been maintained at all. It is full of potholes that hinder the smooth flow of traffic.  The road connects the district centre, which is a hub of activity with a shopping centre as well as government offices. "The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has repaired this road only a few times in the past two decades. We have pursued the issue of repairing the road many times in the past 15 years but there has been no action," said a member of the Janakpuri District Centre Welfare Association, M. R. Wadhwa. In a letter to the DDA, the Federation has said that since the road passes through two malls, a five star hotel, the district centre, two petrol pumps and various offices, immediate action should be taken to improve the condition. "We fail to understand why the DDA has turned a deaf ear to the problem. We have sought the immediate attention of the DDA Chairman and Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Tejender Khanna, as well," added Wadhwa.
