Connecting Highways To Decongest City By Diversion Of Vehicular Movement.NH-8 To NH-1 Through NH10By Archie, Section News
Decks has been cleared for the construction of an Arterial road which will link the three national highways in the city.The matter has been with the Delhi high Court for some years before a go-ahead was finally given to the 46-km arterial road on the Pheriphery.
Once Completed ,It will link the Proposed urban extension areas and avoid additional traffic in the city High court dismissed a PIL moved by a group of villagers,who alleged that the project was an environmental hazard.the villages had demanded change in th eroute.The goverment said it was an attempt to get the property rates escalate after the completion of 100-foot wide six-lane road.
"the aim to decongest Delhi and connect highways is laudable.It will reduce the ever-increasing traffic.As a matter of fact,the construction of such arterial roads on the periphery is to divert traffic from core areas .It is only if these peripheral roads provide the requisite connectivity to vital business and other establishments that the city can be decongested ,"said a Bench of Justices T.S. thakur and S.N.Aggarwal while dismissing the villagers' petition.
