Breaking Pattern, Dengue Surfaces In MarchBy Mrs Gupta, Section Health
DENGUE is back, with the city reporting one confirmed case and another outstation case being recorded, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has confirmed.
"A case from Rajouri Garden in West Delhi district has already been confirmed this year. One more person from Rajasthan who was in the city last month was found denguepositive," Dr N K Yadav, Municipal Health Officer (MHO), said.
These cases have been reported well before the onset of monsoon, putting doctors on alert,
Dr N P Singh, Professor of Medicine at the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), said: "We have started getting cases of fever with symptoms like dengue already. This is unusual behaviour and is a warning to us that we should be more vigilant this year. As the temperature starts going up, we will start getting more cases, so there is reason to get worried." With so many dengue cases being recorded last year in the city, the Health Department directed the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) to carry out an epidemiological study about dengue.
