Brushing up on the latest national political developments will help to score in the political science paper. Besides this, being thorough with the fundamentals is important, advice experts.

``It is important for students to revise the main points of all lessons. They then need to jot them down in a duration of three hours and check if there are any points missing and in case of any, revise them again to ensure that they do not miss them out while giving the board exam. This is best way to check how much information can be retained by them,'' said Kusum Mathur, head of the department, political science, Tagore International (Vasant Vihar).

Keeping a close tab on the current affairs is also a must.
"While attempting questions on topics like India and World, one should be thorough with the latest developments in foreign policy and the relationship with foreign countries like US or China. Though the NCERT textbook contains the relevant portions on each topic but one needs to refer to India Year Book to get an idea of the latest happenings,'' suggested Rita Mukherjee, senior teacher, Springdales (Pusa Road).

HOT TIPS
?Read the NCERT textbooks
?Follow the latest political developments in the period of November-January
?Attempt the eight-mark questions first
?Word limit for two-mark questions should not exceed 50
?There should be no repetition of points and highlight the important points.

Mathur added: `` Students should also be conversant with the political reactions on sealing in Delhi or the recently introduced Domestic Violence Bill and similar issues, as questions on these developments can be possibly asked since the question papers are mostly set in the period of November-January.''

It is advisable for the students to attempt the eight mark questions first. ``Often students kill a lot of time in the beginning of the exams by attempting the two mark questions as they tend to write more than required. The two mark questions should not be more than 50 words and should be attempted after writing the eight mark ones,'' said Mathur.

Key concepts like justice, liberty, equality and liberalism should be on your fingertips. ``One should be thorough with the basic concepts of the subject and read the NCERT textbooks. There should not be any selective study,'' said counsellor Vithika Rahul.

All important points in the answer should also be highlighted.
`` Every new point should be underlined to ensure that the examiner is convinced that all required points are covered by the students,'' said Mukherjee.
