Earlier, the Centre had said it would bring the Master Plan for Delhi 2021 (MPD-2021) by January 31, the deadline for traders to file affidavits before the Supreme Court.

There was absolutely no question of sealing from February 1, Union Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy said. He said his ministry was in the finalising the MPD 2021 and it would be notified by February 7.

MPD 2021 would be notified by the end of the first week of February, Mr Reddy said.

The Group of Ministers had cleared the Master Plan and authorised the ministry to make any further changes. "We are right now fine-tuning the document", he said.

He also described the finalisation of the Master Plan as a highly intricate job.

In a further relief to traders, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) would notify more roads as either commercial or mixed-use ones, Mr Reddy said.
