Delhi would have a new Univ. for which the govt. has already identified land area in Outer Delhi.By sachiv, Section Education
Delhi would have a new university for which the government has already identified land area in Outer Delhi.
With B R Ambedkar University, Delhi would get its third university. The university would offer courses in commerce, arts and general education . Speaking on completion of eight years in power, CM Sheila Dikshit, made this announcement and said: ``Delhi government has already identified land in Outer Delhi for the new university. We would add more colleges as there is a demand for it.'' Dikshit released a working report of Delhi government's eight years in power. Terming the citizen-government partnership or Bhagidari as one of the best achievements, Dikshit said her government has always been proactive in relating to the people.
When asked about the government's failure to get relief for traders over sealing and demolition drives, Dikshit said: ``It wasn't our failure. It was failure of planning. Due to failure of planning for the city, there are not enough shops and commercial spaces.''
Trying to win over the lawabiding residents who have been angry with the government's support for traders over the sealing and demolition issue, Dikshit said: ``We are aware that there is a `silent majority', which is law abiding. Delhi government has its responsibility towards everyone.'' Spelling out the government's priorities for the two years in power, chief minister said that providing basic services like adequate power, water and upgradation of infrastructure are the immediate needs. ``Delhi has an opportunity to develop itself into a world class city. People should not feel that we could have done more. We have already tied up for over 8,000 MW of power which would be available to us around that time.'' (Source-Times Of India,16/12/06)
