Want a Broadband Internet Connection-Beware of Tata Indicom

By djain128, Section Delhi in Cyberspace
Posted on Sun Jun 19, 2005 at 07:07:19 AM EST

This is regarding the bad experience with "Tata Indicom Broadband"

I Applied for Tata Broadband Internet Connection for our office at Karol Bagh on 13th May 2005, and paid the amount required by them towards booking on 13-5-2005 vide application form No 1413651 dt 13-5-2005

The Marketing men from TATA Indicom broadband promised to give connection in 12 days maximum. Subsequently the connection was not given even after 12 days.

After several calls from 25-5-2005 to 2-6-2005 with Tata indicom DSA-Spin Telecom  who booked the connection, there was no satisfactory reply and on 2-6-05 we were advised to call and register a complaint at 55500121. The complaints were lodged with them on Telephone on 2-6-2005, 3-6-2005, 6-6-2005, 7-6-2005, 9-6-2005 and 11-6-2005 and 13-6-2005 & 15-6-2005  and lastly on 17-6-2005 but no satisfactory reply was given by them as to the status of the complaint. No complaint Number was issued by them on complaints. Each time a new person attended the Call and reply were sterotype that i will get a reply in 24 hours but nothing moved on complaints.

We also emailed to them complaints at corp.helpdesk@vsnl.co.in, customerservice@vsnl.co.in on 6-6-2005, ravi.kapoor@vsnl.co.in on 11-6-2005, 13-6-2005 & lastly on 17-6-2005 but none gave any reply forget a assurance about the status of connection

after much persuance and fallowup on 19-5-2005  Now after 5 weeks of application, they have replied that
"In reference to your mail, we would like to inform you that as the Broadband Service is not available in your area as your area is not feasible, we will definitely inform you as soon as the service becomes available in your area. "
But here again they have not mentioned when they are going to refund the booking amount."

The Big Question is Why did they accept the booking in the first place if their home work for the area was not complete.

Any Answers from any one in Tata Broadband???.

Perheps after siphoning the VSNL and its surplus the tata group has adopted the ways of a fraudster to defraud the unsuspecting customers and ruin the VSNL as well as the good reputation earned by the Tata group.

I hope that Tata indicom will in future first conduct a proper survey and only after that will start taking booking amounts.

Tata broadband should not have taken the booking in the first place if the connection was not possible in the area.

This delay to give connection as well to reply has caused great inconvience as well  as loss of precious time in fallow up and mental agony.

This was not expected from a company havng the back up of Tata Brand. The Overall experience with the Company Tata indicom has really been pathetic.

Suggestions for Tata group.

  1. First conduct a proper survey and only after that start taking booking amounts.

  2. Start giving Order No as was required by your staff on the 55500121 to the customer on booking

  3. Issue a acknowledgement of complaint by giving a complaint No of the complaint.

  4. Send acknowledgements by emails.

  5. Give Email ID of your top Boss like MD to enable customers to lodge complaints with seniors if they are not getting any reponse from your existing mechasnism.

  6. Put in place a proper complaint and grievence redressal system.

  7. Take good care of your customers because they keep you in business.

  8. Promote your people to say no if you are unable to render services this will help the customers to make quick decisions.

  9. Put in place  some policy or norms for customers service which i think are missing.

Are they really giving broadband services (none / 0) (#13)
by djain128 on Wed Jun 22, 2005 at 07:56:36 AM EST

After reading the comments i have another doubt in my mind about Tata broadband Indicom.

Question Are they really offering broad band services any where in India.???

Reason for doubt Our Office in Karol Bagh is hardly 2 Km from Bangla Sahib Road in New Delhi where the head office of VSNL - Company that owns tata broadband services is situated and mind it this place is in the Heart of New Delhi- CP. So if neighbouring area around CP is not feasible for them I wonder:
Are they really offering broadband services. ?
Are they Using the broad band servises in their office in CP.?

Any Answers or question or comments
Post here or write to djain128@gmail.com

Thanks for all your comments

I Think this is the perfect forum to make others aware of the problems faced by another. Had i seen your comments earlier i would have not wasted a month for Tata indicom.

Once TATA people know what people think of them and write on net either they will improove or will be forced to shut their shops as there may not be any customers for them.

Tell me frankly would you have considered Tata Indicom if you had read my experience before you are contacted by tata indicom for broadband?

Saw some more experiences at these links. Click these links to read more about tata indicom

Had i read them before I would have never tried them

Lucky that Tata failed (none / 0) (#10)
by Unregistered Visitors on Sun Jun 19, 2005 at 10:13:24 AM EST

i live in chrompet, chennai. airtel dosent cater to this area. i didnt have a bsnl phone. so i got a tata indicom broadband connection in april. My happiness was shortlived.

within a weeks time i found that there was unusually high uploads (180 mb per day). called up customer service, they told thatz a virus. i formatted my computer, ran virus check, did spyware check disconnected modem from computer, reset my password, still there was heavy uploads.

customer service call center is in hyderabad and that is pathetic, all they can do is generate a complaint #. called up chennai office, field engineer promises to check the premises, but dosent show up.

IMHO, tata indicom is still in business because this is india, if it were us, they would have been sued several thousand times for several million dollars.

only way out for me, just disconnect

Dead slow Tata internet connection (none / 0) (#9)
by Unregistered Visitors on Sun Jun 19, 2005 at 10:11:16 AM EST

Tata Indicom Broadband Internet is Dead slow coz it puts a negative effect on people

Since the past 10 days or so i have been experiencing dead slow speeds around 50-60 kbps in the peak hours. When i called up their help desk 8 days back they said they will look into the problem. Then for the next 2 days the BSNL guys called up and said that every thing was fine from their side but then i said to them that the prob. was still not rectified. They said they will still 'check'. After that i gave a call to the help line no. again to re-complain and u know what the CTO says ' Sir, the tech. people called u isnt it' and i replied saying that the prob. wasnt rectified yet and the tech people knew it .And now she says that
she will forward the complain once again and assures me that if this time in no action is taken she will give me the tel. no. of THE HIGHER AUTHORITY. And as expected no action was taken so i had to ring up the CTO once again for that number. The number which was given to me was of the Area Manager and when i ring her up she takes my tel. no and forwards it immediately to some tech guy who gives me a call back with in 5 mins. He says he will come and check the connection at my home. With in another 10 mins i reccv another call from my local exchagne asking me the prob. i say that my speeds are getting crapy during peak hours and remains good in offpeak hours. He says it some server prob (server gets busy in peak hrs) and will get rectifed in 1-2 days and asks me NOT TO COMPLAIN again till prob. is sorted out. That day was Friday and today is Tuesday..still no action taken.....Now i have decided to go to my local exchange and find out the status of my prob.

I get good speeds from 12am till 9 am but thas too late......So i usually leave the system ON overnight if i have to make downloads but hope the connection improves soon.....

Let me be frank....this is the first time i have experienced this kind of prolonged prob. other wise conenction is good. There have no downtimes yet (but connection is too slow right now around 50-60 kbps)

Tata Indicom Very Bad (none / 0) (#3)
by Unregistered Visitors on Sun Jun 19, 2005 at 09:57:58 AM EST

I too think VSNL service SUCKS BIG TIME.

First my account expires without any email notification from them. Could they not have told me one week ago that my account will expire on 16 June?

Then their call centre to find out more about broadband and they tell me I HAVE to buy their modem since their technology is not compatible with any modems others than theirs.

I try to find out more info about their tariifs - its like a treasure hunt - you keep clicking page after apage without getting any real info. I still dont know what the Rs 325 offer is all about.

Especially after coming to this forum, I think I will go to BSNL.

Actually VSNL service has deteriorated after TATAs' took it over.

Their customer service was NEVER good.
