Seven New technical institutes to be established in Delhi in till 2007

The Delhi Government has decided to open seven new technical institutes during the next two years. The Chief Minister, Mrs Sheila Dikshit, announced here yesterday that such institutes would run courses, specifically for women and disabled persons that were in accordance with the market demands.

Ms Dikshit said this while delivering the convocation address at the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Research here. She reiterated her government's commitment to providing the best of courses to the students in the Capital in the field of technical and vocational education, and expressed the hope that the students coming out of such institutions would add to the national resource pool.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a Drug and Poison Information Centre, a Fertility Research Lab and a comprehensive Rainwater Harvesting Project at the institute.

Mr Sajjan Kumar, MP and the Principal Secretary, Training and Technical Education (TTE), Mr R. S. Sethi, were prominent among those present on the occasion.
